World Gymnastics (FIG) will use Real-Time Judging in the Apparatus Finals of the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam: Execution judges recording every deduction the moment they see it. That is a motor skill — reaction, rhythm, restraint — and it can be trained. Academy already works that way.
Fullscreen deduction-on-tap
The routine fills the screen. Four pads sit on the edges of the frame — 0.5 and 0.1 left, Fall and 0.3 right — the centre stays free for the gymnast, and a timeline shows where every tap landed. No undo and no running total while the routine plays: you review and edit the moment it ends. Laptop or phone, with 1 / 3 / 5 / F on the keyboard.
Phone as remote
Video on the laptop, taps on the phone — your phone becomes the joystick. Pair by QR or a six-character code: no app, no login. Every tap lands on the laptop’s timeline, timed to the video to about a tenth of a second.
Tap Studio & Reaction lag
An examiner tap-judges the routine once in Tap Studio and saves it as the reference judging. Every judge then gets a Timing report — reaction lag, hit rate, missed and extra deductions — and a two-lane replay: Examiner above, You below. Admins get the same per judge, with PDF and Excel exports.
